Ordered my daughter's soccer uniform and backpack to the tune of $110! ICK. Who knew that competitive soccer uniforms were so much more expensive than house uniforms.
Haven't found out yet what the fees will exactly be but I have an idea.
I also need to write checks this week for hot lunch at school.
It's only the third day of the month and already it is turning out to be an expensive one.
Soccer is expensive!

We have to pay the entire cost up front since the season is just about to begin, although I believe next year when we pay we can make payments. No fundraisers here, thank goodness, we have enough of those at school and I couldn't handle anymore.
djudah,
She is only 8, so can't go that route.

Not sure where you live or the age of your daughter- make sure you ask about fees ahead of time. Teams I coached paid around $450/season when I coached for FREE and once I got paid to coach those fees were $600/season per player.
Costs for soccer to look at:
1) paid training. I earned around $2250 for a 15 week season training 2-3X per week for 90 minutes/session.
2) tournaments. Most tournaments for youth start at $500 for 3 games. Many teams will play 3 tournaments for 9 games at a cost of $1500 per team.
3) club fees. Many clubs have paid personell. Coaching directors, training directors, boys directors, girls directors. Field costs, paperwork costs. I have seen club fees approach $5000 per team, the clubs I coached at charged around $550-$1000.
The difference between $550 and $5000 is the number of people getting paid which might not directly interact with players.
4) uniform. $110 for uniform and back pack sounds reasonable. I remember an $85 uniform fee and $30 for a backpack sounds right.
I have often thought of starting my own club which cuts many of the fees out. If you think it's expensive now, build in the travel costs to tournaments 50-100 miles away and hotel costs and this adds up.
My "soccer club vision" is no overnight travel, no tournaments and just high level league play, high level training and kids playing the sport for fun.
